Chapter 4 Normal day?
I’t early morning and Chris’s alarm clock begins playing the song “Dude looks like a lady”. Waking up he thows his pillow at the clock and starts to get ready for the day. He puts on a pair of jeans and a sweater, touches up his makeup and hair and heads downstairs.
“Oh you’re here already”, says his mother.
“Yeah, I got up early for once”.
“Morning Dad”.
“Morning! Just look at you you’re even worse than yesterday”.
“I thought Chrissy looked nice dear”.
“It’s Chris not Chrissy he’s a boy remember”!
“Yes dear”.
“Every day this situation gets worse and the other day you two spent money like it was growing on trees and what do you spend it on”?
“Girls clothes and remodeling so he has a proper girl’s room”!
“I tell you this is going to kill me if it keeps up”.
“Now dear it’s not that bad”.
“Not that bad”! “Not that bad”! “If I didn’t have to go to work to pay these bills I’d tell you how bad it is”.
“Goodbye dear”.
“It’ll be alright Chrissy he’ll calm down later”.
“So what do you have planned for today?
“Are you going to join me in aerboics later”?
“No mom”. “I think I’ll go for a walk and do some thinking”.
“That’s fne dear, have fun”.
Chris leaves the house and begins to walk toward town.
Its a beautiful spring day. The birds are singing, the flowers are in bloom, and it seems all the children in the neighborhood are outside playing.
A few blocks from his home he notices someone waving and shouting at him “Chrissy”.
He spots Joan waving at her to come over.
“Chrissy what are you doing”?
“I’m just out for a walk”. “I need to do some thinking”.
“About what”?
“A little bit of everything I guess”.
“Mind if I come with you”? “I’m headed that way anyway”.
“Where are you headed”?
“The Y I have a class there this morning”.
“You alright Chrissy”? “I mean what you have to think about can I help”?
“I was just thinking my mom wanted me to start exersizing more maybe I could find something at the Y”.
“Great I’ll help you”.
“Were here come on I’ll show you around”.
They enter the building and are greeted by a lady at the front desk . “Good morning ladies”
“Good morning Ann”, replies Joan.
“Nice to see you again Joan”. “Who’s your freind”?
“This is Chrissy shes going to be staying in town for awhile I thought I could show her around”.
“Sure go ahead”. “Oh Chrissy here take one of our brochures it lists the activities we have”.
“Thanks”.
“Joan dont you have a class”?
“It’s not for a few more minutes I can give you a quick tour”. “Follow me”.
Joan leads Chrissy to the far end of the building.
“Ok over here’s the swimming pool”. “It’s olympic size”. “They have lots of classes for swimming”.
“Over heres an ice rink”. “You could take up ice skating”.
“I dont know”.
“Just think how you would look in one of those skating outfits”.
“That’s what I was thinking about”.
“Ok theres the weight room”. “No probably not”. “You do see some nice guys in there once in a while though”.
“This is the gym it’s normally divided up so they can do more than one class at a time”. “My class will be back there”. “Speaking of which I have to get ready come on”.
Chris is looking over the gym when Joan drags him through a door.
“I have to get ready you can just have a seat here if you want Chrissy”. Joan points out what looks like a bench.
Looking around Chris realizes he is in the women’s locker room.
“My god I have to get out of here”, he thinks.
“I think I’ll just go look around some more if you dont mind Joan”.
“Sure go ahead there’s lots more to see”.
Chris leaves the locker room as quickly as possible trying not to look suspicious at the same time. Once out of the locker room he takes a little time to recompose himself then continues to look around the Y as some more classes begin.
In one area he sees a karate class, in another a basketball game is beginning.
He notices that Joan has come out of the locker room and watches as she goes to the area she pointed out earlier. It turns out to be a kick boxing class. He becomes very interested in watching Joan practice but isnt sure if it is because of the class or how Joan looks in that outfit. Realizing what he’s doing he pulls himself away and continues on his tour.
In a far corner of the gym he notices another class is beginning. It seems to be made up mostly of older men and women. As he watches he wonders why everyone seems to be moving in slow motion. While he’s watching the instructor comes over to talk to him.
“May I help you miss”?
“I was just wondering what they were doing I didn’t mean to cause any problems”.
“No problem, this is called Tai Chi”.
“Tai Chi”?
“Yes! it is an ancient Chinese exersize that builds both the body and mind”.
“Doing it slow like that actually takes more effort than doing it quickly and it allows them to think about what they are doing at the same time”. “Would you like to try”?
“I don’t know”? “I dont see any young people in your class”.
“Thats true, my class normally doesn’t get young people they think it is to slow and opt for classes like karate and kick boxing”. “Tell you what just sit in for now and if you like it come back”. “Ok”?
“Ok I’ll try it”.
The instructor leads Chrissy over toward an older man in the corner.
“Walter: This is”. “I’m sorry I didn’t ask your name miss”.
“Chrissy”.
“Walter this is Chrissy can you show her the basic moves”.
“Sure”!
“You ever done this before Chrissy”?
“No”!
“You look in pretty good shape but don’t be surprised if your muscles ache in the morning”.
Walter starts to show Chrissy some of the basic moves.
“Slower, slower, the slower the better”.
“This isn’t as easy as I thought it would be, Walter”.
“It’s not easy for people to go slow these days they want to do everything fast”.
“Keep trying it will come”.
Chrissy continues to practice and eventually gets the basics down with Walter’s coaching.
“That’s it Chrissy nice and slow”.
“Oops times up the class meets every morning but you can practice what I showed you at home”.
“See you tommorow”.
“Thanks Walter bye”.
Chrissy catches up with Joan at the front entrance.
“Find anything you liked Chrissy”.
“I saw a lot of things and even tried a something called Tai Chi but I haven’t made up my mind yet”.
Chrissy and Joan leave the building and start walking up the street toward Joan’s home.
“Do you have anything planned today Chrissy”?
“Not really”.
Arriving at Joan’s house she asks, “Want to come in”?
“Sure”.
Entering the house the head directly for Joan’s room.
“This is my room you can sit on the bed”.
Joan then begins to take off her clothes.
“I need to change you don’t mind do you”?
“Um, no go ahead”.
“Hey Chrissy the girls and I are going to the mall in a little while you want to come along”?
“No thanks I think I’ll stay home today”.
“Ok”.
Joan notices that Chrissy is staring at her while she undresses.
“Do you mind if I ask you something”?
“No go ahead”.
“I’ve noticed a little something strange about you Chrissy”.
“What”?
“Well it’s the way you look at other girls”.
“What do you mean”?
“It seems like you’re checking them out”.
“No! you’re mistaken”.
“Am I? I saw the way you were looking at me when I was practicing”. “I wasn’t imagining that”. “And just now when I was undressing I know I saw you checking me out”.
“I was just amazed at how good you are at kickboxing and wishing I could look that good, that’s all”.
“Well that may be true but I don’t think that was the only reason”.
“I think there’s something else going on that you haven’t told anyone about”.
“What would that be”?
“Well I think that you may a lesbian”.
“A lesbian! No! you’re totally wrong there Joan”. ”I am definitely not a lesbian”!
“Don’t get me wrong Chrissy I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that but that’s what I think”.
“I’m sorry Joan but you’re wrong”.
“Let me ask you this then have you ever kissed a girl before”?
“Sure”!
“Ok, and did you like it”?
“Yes”! “So”?
“Have you ever gone further than that with a girl Chrissy”?
“No not really”.
“But you thought about it, right”?
“Yeah sometimes”.
“So you’re telling me that you’ve kissed girls before and maybe a little more, and thought about going further with a girl right”?
“Yeah”.
“And you’re a girl right”?
“Yeah”.
“That sounds kind of gay to me”.
“Well I’m not OK”!
“Ok, but if you were I wouldn’t mind”. “I kind of wondered what it would be like to kiss a girl myself I was thinking that maybe you could show me”.
Joan steps over to the bed and sits next to Chrissy.
“You want to try it”?
“I’m not gay”!
“Ok! we established your not gay but you did say you’ve kissed girls before, I just wanted to try it once can’t you do that much for me”.
“I guess so”.
Chrissy moves closer and kisses Joan. Nothing spectacular just a plain old kiss.
“Well that was no big deal”! “If you can’t do any better than that we might as well not do it at all”.
“You want me to show you my best”?
“Yes Chrissy I want the best kiss you got”.
“Ok you asked for it”!
Chrissy puts his arms around Joan and kisses her again but this time it is a long and passoniate kiss.
“Now thats more like it you’re a real good kisser”.
“Thanks”.
“You know Chrissy we could go a little further if you like”.
Joan slides even closer to Chrissy.
Just then the phone rings.
“Joan it’s the phone”
“Thanks mom”!
“I’ll be right back Chrissy save my place“.
Chris thinks to himself. “That was weird Joan thinks I’m a lesbian, but I did enjoy that kiss a lot but I can’t be a lesbian I’m a boy, but she doesnt know that, does she”?
Joan returns.
“Sorry I have to go that was the girls I’m late”. “We can finish our conservation some other day”.
Chris leaves Joan’s house and continues his walk home. Confused about his feelings Chris
does not notice a car pull up.
“ Chrissy Yo Chrissy”.
Chris turns to see a somewhat familiar boy in a car.
“Yes”?
“It’s me Tom remember”.
“No, not really”.
“From the mall your mother introduced us”.
“Oh yeah! now I remember”.
“You want to do lunch Chrissy”?
“I don’t think so, thanks anyway”.
“Ah come on it’s only lunch and I’m buying”.
“Ok, but just lunch”.
“Sure just lunch, get in”.
“We’ll go to Joes Ok”?
“Sure”.
They arrive at Joes a 50s style hamburger joint, and take a booth in the corner.
“What do you want I’ll go get it for you Chrissy”?
“Oh, just a coke and some fries”.
“Coke and fries be right back”.
Tom comes back in a couple of minutes and puts a tray on the table. He then slides in next to Chrissy.
Chrissy thinks to himself. “I knew this was to good to be true”.
“Here you go Chrissy”.
“Thanks”.
“You know Chrissy you look nice”.
“Thanks”.
“Um, I was kind of wondering if we could go out on an actual date sometime”.
“Maybe”.
Tom moves his hand till it is touching Chris’s knee.
“What are you doing Tom”?
“Nothing. I swear”!
“OK”.
“We could go to a movie or something later if you want”.
While he is talking Tom has again placed his hand back on Chris’s knee.
“Tom I told you to stop”!
“What I’m not doing nothing”.
“So what about the movie”?
This time Tom doesn’t stop at the knee and works his hand up Chrissy;s thigh.
“I told you to stop you pervert”!
“You can’t tell me you don’t want it the way your dressed your advertising for it”.
“Get your hands off me now”!
Chris shoves Tom out of the booth and onto the floor.
“You pervert”! she yells while dumping her coke on his head.
“Get out of my way”!
Chris storms out of the resteraunt leaving Tom lying on the floor lying in a pool of coke.
Chris then continues to walk home grumbling under her breath. “What a day I hope it doesn’t get any worse.
He finally arrives home.
“I’m home mom”.
“I’m in the kitchen dear”.
Chris goes to the kitchen.
“Did you have lunch dear”?
“I went to lunch but I had to use it to fend off a pervert”. “Oh, by the way thanks for introducing me to Tom at the mall he’s a real gem”.
“I take it your day hasn’t gone to well dear”.
“No, not exactly”. “First I’m hit on by a girl”.
“A girl”?
“Yeah a girl and now she thinks I’m a lesbian”.
“A lesbian”?
“Yeah, thats what I said a lesbian”!
“How could you be a lesbian dear”?
“I haven’t quite figured that one out yet myself, mom”.
“Anyway then your friend Tom shows up and offers me lunch but when we get there he’s all over me”. “I tell you he sure wasn’t interested in the food”!
“Oh my, did he hurt you”?
“No, I pushed him out of the booth and dumped my lunch on him”. “You know that was the only good part of this day so far”.
“You know mom I’ve learned somthing today, boys are pigs and so are women”.
“Right now all I want to do is have a nice quite night at home, watch the tube and eat some popcorn”.
“That’s a good idea dear, I’ll join you later”. “First I have to see about your father”.
“Is something wrong with dad”?
“He wasn’t feeling well when he got home so I sent him to bed”.
“It’s probably just the flu, it’s going around you know”.
